Born in 1985, Chai Mi lives and works in Beijing. Chai Mi’s fine art practice involves a range of media, including painting, video art, installation and performance. She says that her creation always starts from an accident that she turns into “a game playing process of scrutiny.” The final piece of artwork is always a window for peering into that creative process. Recently, Chai has become more involved in live and digital art, though most of her creation time is devoted to art-making by hand. Chai’s work relates to the following themes: alienation, restriction, circulation, conflict, shape, and space-time.
