It is with great sadness that the Civitella Ranieri Foundation reports the death of GERALD E. RUPP, our Chairman Emeritus and Founding Trustee.

Gerald was an attorney who practiced law within his own firm in New York, New York. He was admitted to practice in the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida. His areas of concentration were trusts, estates, real estate, taxation, charitable organizations, and creation of international foundations.

A pianist and vocalist, Gerald had a serious interest in music and was chairman of a small opera company whose emphasis was on the Wagnerian repertoire. He served on the Board of the World Wildlife Fund for many years. Additionally, he was chairman of the board of trustees of the Vidda Foundation and served on the board of the Studio Marangoni Foundation, the Opera Orchestra of New York, Theatre for the New City, and InterSchool Orchestras. He was a trustee of the Southampton, New York chapter of the Nature Conservancy. Mr. Rupp received a BS and an LLB from Fordham University.

Gerald was a great friend and advisor to our Founder, Ursula Corning, and was a frequent guest at the Castle in Umbertide. Here are two photos of Gerald in happier days, dancing on what we call ‘The Russian Terrace.’
