An essay by Jennifer Finney Boylan (DG 2021) entitled “I Never Knew How Golden My Summers Were” was featured in the Opinion section of the New York Times on September 1st. The essay ponders life amid COVID and frequent environmental disasters, the power of summertime memories, and the quiet, loving moments that will get us through.

“I did not really understand how golden those summers were at the time. But then, it isn’t a whole summer that becomes epic in retrospect; it’s just the small moments, each one as lovely, and humble, as a shell washed up on a beach and then placed, as a memento, on a windowsill.” Read the essay here.
