Eric Nathan (CRF 2022) recently shared his news with us. Currently in residence at Civitella, Eric Nathan (CRF 2022) is writing a new double concerto for two violas, for Hsin-Yun Huang and Misha Amory. An announcement about the premiere performances and commissioning partners is forthcoming.

In August, Nathan recorded Mark Campbell’s and his Some Favored Nook in Putney, Vermont. The release of the premiere recording, produced by Judith Sherman, will be announced soon. Some Favored Nook will be presented on October 24th by Copland House for its New York City premiere. Featured are soprano Tony Arnold, baritone William Sharp, and pianist Seth Knopp. “Intimate and personal…people were weeping at the end” – Arts and Culture Texas RESERVE TICKETS

On June 18th, the New England Philharmonic presented the Boston premiere of Nathan’s Double Concerto performed by Stefan Jackiw and Yoonah Kim led by Maestro Yoichi Udagawa. October 30th, Opening will have its Boston premiere for orchestra on the NEP’s season-opening concerts in Jordan Hall, Maestro Tianhui Ng’s first as Music Director. As Composer-in-Residence, Nathan worked with Tian to program the NEP’s 2022-23 season, which features twelve works by living composers, including the premiere of Nathan’s In Between II this spring. Watch videos of the June performance of Double Concerto as well as Nathan speaking about Opening and our season-opening concert (from the grounds of Civitella Ranieri).
