Dear Civitellians,

Though our Fellowship sessions have been cancelled for 2020, the quiet and the solitude of the Castle and grounds continue to make an ideal environment for artists, writers, composers, our alumni and their colleagues. View an interview with Isa Melsheimer (CRF 2005) on her return and stay at Civitella, here, and view an interview with Alexander Hawkins (CRF 2018) on his current ‘2020 Session’ stay at Civitella, here.

As travel is open for the European Union to Italy, and as Umbria has proved itself to be the safest region in Italy, we continue to invite past Fellows and Director’s Guests residing in the EU to come to us in these unprecedented times for independent research and work. We invite you to take advantage of our fully equipped self-catering apartments, available at very low fees to support your work.

Minimum stays of one week are encouraged, and stays of a month or longer can be discounted by up to 25%. Our office is open and staff are available to help you with information and logistics throughout your stay. The vast Castle library, including the Mark Strand collection, will open to you by appointment. Several studios are available, a shared vehicle for occasional use, and bicycles, too.

For more information on availability, please contact our Residency Director, Diego Mencaroni at diego@civitella.org.
