May 19th, 2026 — The 13th edition of the Encuentro Literary Festival taking place in and around Perugia, Italy is dedicated to Spanish-language literature and culture and brings together international writers, translators, artists, for book talks, performances, screenings, workshops, and public conversations. The 2026 edition kicks off today, May 19th, and runs through the 24th. Civitellians Mercedes Cebrian (CRF 2009), Mathias Énard (CRF 2026), and Fernanda Trías (CRF 2025) participate on May 22nd in Perugia:

Mercedes will talk about food with the director of the Cervantes Institute in Rome, Ignacio Peyró.
Mathias Énard
Mathias will present on his book Malinconia dei Confini. Nord—which just won the Gregor von Rezzori Prize for its Italian translation—with Italian writer Paolo di Paolo.
Fernanda Trías
Fernanda will present on her award-winning novel Pink Slime.
