Ashkan Behzadi, Music, Iran/Canada
Ashkan Behzadi is an Iranian–Canadian composer. He earned his DMA in composition at Columbia University. Prior to this, he graduated from McGill University where he finished his bachelor’s degree in composition and music theory. Ashkan’s music has been commissioned and performed by various international ensembles, including TAK Ensemble, Oerknal Ensemble, JACK Quartet, Divertimento Ensemble, and Ensemble Alternance. For the 2019–2020 academic year, Ashkan joined the University of Chicago as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Ashkan Behzadi has been named a 2021-2022 Guggenheim Fellow in composition.
Leah Naomi Green, Writing, USA
Leah Naomi Green is author of The More Extravagant Feast (Graywolf Press, 2020) selected by Li-Young Lee for Academy of American Poets’ Walt Whitman Award. She is recipient of a 2021 Treehouse Climate Action Poetry Prize from the AAP, as well as the 2021 Lucille Clifton Legacy Award. Green teaches environmental studies and English at Washington and Lee University. Her work has appeared in or is forthcoming from The Paris Review, Tin House, Poem-a-Day, The Southern Review, Orion, Shenandoah, Ecotone, and Pleiades. She lives in Virginia where she and her family homestead and grow food.
