London‑based composer Christian Mason (CRF 2017) was awarded the 2025 Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition by the University of Louisville in December 2024 for his piece Invisible Threads. This immersive performance installation features a spatially shifting ensemble of 12 musicians—including voices, bass clarinet, accordion, and string quartet—encouraging the audience to roam freely through the performance space during the 70‑minute presentation, which premiered at the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik and sets texts by Paul Griffiths. Mason accepted the prize at a ceremony in Louisville in April 2025 and participated in a composition seminar and public presentation at the University of Louisville School of Music.
