An annual classical music statistics report has found that in 2022, nine of the top 20 most performed living composers were women. Missy Mazzoli (CRF 2019), Olga Neuwirth (CRF 2016), Kaija Saariaho (CRF 2001), and Errollyn Wallen (CRF 2006) were among those included on the list. The 2022 results mark a stark improvement from past years’ findings; in 2014, just one composer in the top 20 was a woman, while three Johns made the cut. And just one year earlier, in 2013, there wasn’t a single woman in the top 200 list. Learn more here.
