The New York Youth Symphony was awarded this year’s Grammy for Best Orchestral Performance for their performance of work by Jessie Montgomery (Incoming Music Fellow 2023), among others. Works by Jessie and Tania León (CRF 2003) were among the productions by 2023 Classical Music Producer of the Year Judith Sherman. Additionally, Esperanza Spalding’s (CRF 2018) work on “Live At The Detroit Jazz Festival” was nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album; Anthony Davis’ (CRF 2011) “X- The Life and Times of Malcom X” was nominated for Best Opera Recording; and “Call Us What We Carry: Poems” by Amanda Gorman (Juror) was nominated for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.
