April 14th, 2026 — The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation has announced its 2026 class of Guggenheim Fellows, recognizing 223 artists, writers, scholars, and scientists across 55 fields. Selected from nearly 5,000 applicants, the fellowship supports individuals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement and future promise in their disciplines.

We are thrilled to celebrate eight members of the Civitella community among this year’s fellows:

  • Raymond Antrobus (CRF 2025)
  • Sonya Clark (CRF 2012)
  • Amitav Ghosh (DG 2018)
  • Lamont Hamilton (CRF 2021)
  • Rickey Laurentiis (CRF 2014)
  • Megha Majumdar (CRF 2024)
  • Anders Nilsen (CRF 2024)
  • Namwali Serpell (CRF 2024)

Across literature, visual art, music, and interdisciplinary practice, these artists and writers embody the spirit of curiosity, rigor, and imagination that defines the Civitella community. Their work expands conversations across borders and forms, engaging deeply with history, identity, language, memory, politics, and sound.

The Guggenheim Fellowship has long stood as one of the most meaningful recognitions of sustained creative and intellectual achievement, offering recipients the freedom to pursue ambitious work under what the foundation describes as “the freest possible conditions.”

We are honored to count these extraordinary Fellows among the many artists who have been in residence at Civitella Ranieri, and we look forward to witnessing the work that emerges from this next chapter.

Congratulations to all of the 2026 Guggenheim Fellows. View the full list at gf.org.
