The University of St. Thomas’ Center for Irish Studies announced Dermot Bolger (CRF 2018) as the 2021 recipient of the 25th O’Shaughnessy Poetry Prize. Author of numerous plays and several collections of poems, Bolger has written nine novels, including The Journey Home and An Ark of Light. He is the curator of several anthologies by Irish authors including The Picador Book of Modern Irish Fiction. His debut play The Lament for Arthur Cleary received the Samuel Beckett Award. Bolger writes for Ireland’s leading newspapers, and, in 2012, was named Commentator of the Year at the Irish Newspaper Awards. Having founded and directed the Raven Arts Press as a teenage factory worker, he is now editor and co-founder of New Island Publishers.
