Amelia Umuhire
Filmmaker and artist Amelia Umuhire lives in Berlin and Kigali. In 2015, she wrote and directed the award-winning web series Polyglot, which follows the lives of young, deracinated London- and Berlin-based Rwandese artists. Her experimental short film Mugabo was screened at MOCA Los Angeles, the Berlin Biennale, and elsewhere. In 2018, Umuhire produced the Prix Europa-nominated radio feature Vaterland for German radio station Deutschlandfunk Kultur. In 2020, as a Villa Romana Fellow, she adapted the feature into the French Innocent. In 2022, she wrote the sitcom Barrys Barbershop for German channel ZDF. She is currently a staff writer on the Netflix Germany adaptation of the British show Cheaters and is writing her first feature film with Studio Zentral.
