Being at Civitella was a life changing experience. I’m incredibly grateful to have had such a beautiful, calm and magical place to focus on not only writing music but also thinking deeply about why I do the work I do as well as be inspired by other fellows work and perspectives. I arrived to this residency at a very vulnerable state after coming out of a long burnout period and being at Civitella allowed be to reconnect with my work in a way I deeply needed and to also realize I’m not alone and other artists also experience this. Having the space to dig into these conversations, being open and vulnerable with others, surrendering to the moment and letting the environment, the food and the people energize me was something I’ll never forget and will take with me forever particularly in the challenging moments. The new friendships, perspectives and connections will be resonating with me for a very long time.
