Civitella made me feel valued as an artist and « seen » in a way I have never felt anywhere in my life. The physical environment, the resources and facilities, the schedules and programming, and the staff and personnel were all imbued with a quiet sensitivity and understanding of what an artist needs in order to think, make, and live. It not only inspired me to produce work but allowed me to feel nourished and replenished in a way I never knew was possible. I arrived at Civitella unsure of what I had done to deserve such an opportunity, but I am leaving with a deep feeling of belonging and utmost gratitude, to both the foundation and to my Fellow peers.
