I finished one composition and made considerable headway on a second. I made a radio program for an international broadcast. I wrote some new software to use in my performances. A good six weeks. I am very happy about those things, yet truth be told I probably could have done them – eventually – wherever I was in the world. But what I treasure the most about my residence at Civitella Ranieri was truly the gift of time: time to pause, think, reflect, contemplate and grow. Every moment spent under the trees with the birds and the bugs was as valuable as those inside the studio. Every conversation, presentation from a colleague, shared meal and even the prank-makings helped me as much to grow further as an artist as much as when I sat down to make my music. I really can’t say enough about how great it was.
Thank you so much.
