Civitella Ranieri afforded me the marvellous opportunity to create in quiet with tools I needed and with wonderful fellowship.
Among things I accomplished were a score for the `Wheat” film of Giuseppe Caccavale: the work for solo flute, my own improv, and live birds called BIRDS OF CIVITELLA; Djembe drums and cymbal recordings for Alessandra Rosini’s innovative score to Stephanos Papadopoulos’ poem; composition of the first half of my own chamber work SHE plus research and creation of text for its lyrics; plus a concert at my beloved DON GIOVANNI featuring flutist Linda Wetherill (BIRDS OF CIVITELLA, AT SUNSET, the choral work THE SORROW OF LOVE (YEATS)and a movement of CONCERTO FOR ORNETTE AND ORCHESTRA, the last 2 pre-recorded. The support and sophistication of Fellow artists and local visitor audience members (e.g. Laura, Massimo, and Martin). Thank you Civitella.
