My watercolors on Fabriano paper grow out of my years as a figurative painter, and my African roots. My abstract work rests upon sensation alone. They set up vibrations which radiate in many directions. The combination of colors and the lines and patterns of my memory of Africa carry me into this unknown territory of abstraction. It is instinctive and spontaneous, yet it comes from years and years of carefully planning my figurative paintings.
