Chaitanya Tamhane is an independent filmmaker from Mumbai. His debut feature Court won the Lion of the Future and the Orizzonti Award for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, along with over 30 awards worldwide, and was India’s official Oscar entry. He was mentored by Alfonso Cuarón through the Rolex Arts Initiative. His second film, The Disciple, premiered in competition at Venice, winning Best Screenplay and the FIPRESCI Prize. A Netflix Original, it was named among the year’s best by The New York Times, Time, and Rolling Stone.
