Darrell Grant has released 10 albums as a leader, performed with jazz icons such as Betty Carter, Tony Williams, and Esperanza Spalding, and built an international reputation as an artist who channels the power of music toward community and social justice. His compositions include Step by Step: The Ruby Bridges Suite, The Territory, and Sanctuaries, a jazz chamber opera exploring gentrification and displacement. He is a CMA New Works and MAP Fund grantee as well as a Professor of Music and Interdisciplinary Studies at Portland State University, where he directs the Social Justice and the Arts degree program.
