Hope Campbell Gustafson was thrice an intern at the Castle (2012, 2014, 2017), and began working at Civitella New York in 2018. She also translates Italian prose—her book-length translations include The Lake’s Water is Never Sweet (Spiegel & Grau) by Giulia Caminito, Commander of the River (Indiana University Press) by Ubah Cristina Ali Farah, and Islands—New Islands: A Vagabond Guide to Rome (Fontanella Press) by Marco Lodoli. Hope has an MFA in Literary Translation from the University of Iowa and a BA from Wesleyan University.
