James Allen Hall is the author of two books of poetry and a book of lyric personal essays: Now You’re the Enemy (University of Arkansas, 2008); I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well (CSU Poetry Center, 2017); and Romantic Comedy (Four Way, 2023). He has twice been an NEA Fellow in Poetry (2011 and 2025), and he has received awards from Lambda Literary, the Fellowship of Southern Writers, and the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, among others.
