There were so many. The time and space to work and think. The beauty of the location. The kindness and support of the staff. The garden and the food and the grappa! But most of all, the smallness of it all, and how international it was. As someone who teaches in a university and has had to relate to and teach students beyond the art school realm, I was reminded how special it is to spend time with poets and musicians, and how their gifts are so meaningful and amplifying in terms of my own work. (New vocabularies, new perspectives.)
