Kheng Sonam Dorji
During my residency at Civitella, I focused on composing melodies for a series of songs centered on compassion, while also developing theoretical frameworks for Bhutanese music. The serene environment and uninterrupted time allowed me to reflect deeply on the cultural significance of traditional music in shaping national identity. A key part of my work also involved successfully amplifying the Bhutanese lute, opening new possibilities for its performance and preservation. Civitella provided the ideal space for both creative exploration and cultural research.
