The time at Civitella Ranieri was a kind of a reconfiguration act. I came here to work on my upcoming retrospective but ended up developing a completely new mindset. It must have been coming for some time, however the unique settings and people triggered a reversal – I used to look out at the world more than into myself, now it is the opposite; I tended to prioritize truth rather than beauty in art and now I think I have found a new balance. The work made here is a witness and a result of the process – minimal visual “traces” of the art vs. life rivalry seen from a new perspective. The ideas born but not realized here are already waiting for me in my next studio.
