Marcellina Akpojotor
Born 1989 in Lagos, Nigeria, Marcellina Akpojotor combines collage and painting to explore femininity, identity, and women’s empowerment. She works with discarded Ankara fabric, investigating its cultural significance and memory. Akpojotor studied at Lagos State Polytechnic and Obafemi Awolowo University after apprenticing with her father. Her exhibitions include solo shows at Rele Gallery (Lagos, 2018; Los Angeles, 2021; London, 2024) and group shows worldwide. She participated in Art Basel Miami Beach (2021) and was a Norval Sovereign African Art Prize finalist (2025).​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
