Ramon Lazkano studied in Paris. He was awarded the Prince Pierre de Monaco Foundation Prize and the Georges Bizet Prize of the French Academy of Fine Arts, and was in residence at the Royal Academy of Spain and the Academy of France in Rome. From 2001 to 2011, he worked on the Chalk Laboratory, a collection of chamber music echoing Jorge Oteiza’s “experimental laboratory”. His music, reflecting on intertextuality and sound, focuses on duration and the threshold of dynamics. In March of 2019 the Ensemble Intercontemporain will premiere his most recent large work, Ziaboga.
