Gianni Moretti (CRF 2021) and Leah Naomi Green (CRF 2021) have shared news of a new collaboration with us. Leah suggested that Gianni accompany two of her poems with two of his works / studies for the “Touch me not” symposium organized by Indiana University.
In 2021, Indiana University’s “Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not)” project took the words spoken by Jesus to Mary Magdalene in the garden after she discovers his empty tomb — the title of the project — as a provocation for reflection on the COVID-19 pandemic, and on other pandemics, viral and social, that engulf us. In Fall 2022, Indiana University explores a reversal of the injunction against touch. Mindful still of the social, political, and environmental crises that we face, this project re-envisions this imperative as an invitation to and desire for contact: Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not).

Gianni and Leah met at Civitella last summer when they were in residence together. Gianni says that “a beautiful dialogue was born immediately and [there was] a certain communion of approach, vision and feeling of things… I thank Leah for this beautiful invitation and for her look at the things that allowed me to deepen some reflections on the contemporary monument born at Civitella last year. We hope that this dialogue can continue in the future and we thank Civitella.”
