Hafizah Augustus Geter

Hafizah Augustus Geter is a Nigerian/U.S. writer born in Zaria, Nigeria, and raised in Ohio and South Carolina. Her memoir, The Black Period: On Personhood, Race, and Origin is a New Yorker Magazine Best Book of 2022, an Amazon’s Best of the Month Editor’s Pick, finalist for a 2023 Chautauqua Prize, and winner of a 2023 PEN Open Book Award and a 2023 Lambda Literary Award in LGBTQ Nonfiction. She is the author of the poetry collection Un-American, an NAACP Image Award and PEN Open Book Award finalist. She a Bread Loaf 2021 nonfiction fellow. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Finola Merivale

Finola Merivale is an Irish composer living in New York. Her work explores the climate crisis, nature, social inequality, and a sense of place. She completed her DMA in Composition at Columbia University in 2023, where she studied with George Lewis, Georg Friedrich Haas, and Zosha Di Castri. Recent accolades include an Arts Council of Ireland bursary to support an evening-length work for W4RP and the Fedora Digital Prize for Out of the Ordinary, a community opera in virtual reality, commissioned by Irish National Opera. Finola’s debut album, Tús, was released in 2022 on New Focus Recordings.
