In Ivan Forde (CRF 2019)’s latest newsletter, he mentioned Civitella Ranieri. From Ivan:

“Last April through June I produced new works in residence at an 11th century castle in Italy, coincidentally with my partner Sonia Louise Davis who was separately accepted as a visual artist fellow. Besides the amount of delicious FOOD i devoured, my time in Italy was a season of tremendous personal and artistic growth being able to see original frescoes by Piero Della Francesca in the region and traveling up to the Venice Biennale to witness my mentor Remy Jungerman’s installation I assisted him on for the Dutch Pavilion. Over 6 weeks I generated new cyanotype drawings, sound work on improvised organ recorded in a small resonant chapel, and a 10 yard cyanotype and watercolor on paper scroll. I displayed this large work on paper last September at Visitor Welcome Center gallery in Los Angeles as part of a two person project with artist iris yirei hu and we got a nice review in ArtForum.”

Ivan will be honored with the Emerging Artist Award by The Baxter Street Camera Club of New York. Tickets to the 2020 Stand With Us Benefête featuring a performance by Black Thought from the Roots(!)  can be purchased Here.
