Working with oil, watercolor, or monotype, Joel Janowitz weaves together observation and abstraction, feeling and memory to create contemplative works that invite us to see the everyday world anew. His work is held in many public collections including the Whitney Museum, the MET, and the MFA Boston. He has taught at Wellesley College, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Princeton University, and Brown University. Janowitz is a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in painting.

Anne Lilly

Visual Arts, USA

Director’s Guest

Anne Lilly deploys a broad range of media (abstract kinetic sculpture, painting, and figurative clay) to bring rationalism—geometry, grids, and gradients—into direct engagement with emotional sensation. Her work has garnered numerous awards, including the Barnett and Annalee Newman Foundation’s grant-award for lifetime achievement, and is held in museum, corporate, and private collections. Lilly studied engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before earning her Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and her MFA from Clark University.
