October 11th, 2025 — Civitella’s Residency Director Diego Mencaroni and Programs Assistant Greta Caseti visited the Maramotti Collection today which includes works by Mark Dion (CRF 1996), Helen Mirra (CRF 2016), and Margherita Moscardini (CRF 2019) in its permanent collection.
The Collezione Maramotti is the private collection of contemporary art of Achille Maramotti, who founded the Italian luxury brand Max Mara in 1951. It is housed in the former, original premises of the company in Reggio Emilia, in Emilia Romagna in Italy, about three hours from Civitella Ranieri, converted for the purpose by the British architect Andrew Hapgood between 2003 and 2007. The design of the grounds, by landscape architect Lucy Jenkins, follows the same principles as the building’s renovation. It employs plant species and ornamental concepts that are characteristic of the area, to underscore the idea of the site’s “recolonization” as a post-industrial landscape.
