Mark Wunderlich’s (CRF 2014) poem “Fragment of St. Julien,” translated from English to Italian by Civitella’s Program Assistant, Greta Caseti, was recently shared on RAI’s poetry blog. Wunderlich’s ekphrastic poem was inspired by a Piero della Francesca fresco fragment from 1454–1458 which he saw during a trip to Sansepolcro. Over the years, many Fellows at Civitella have been able to observe Piero works during excursions organized by the Foundation, and have later incorporated the experience into their work. Click here to read the poem in both English and Italian, or listen to Wunderlich’s reading.
