October 13th, 2025 — In the lead-up to its 33rd edition, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) has announced the full list of selected Forum projects, which will be presented as part of the annual industry gathering exploring the vital realities of today through the eyes of both new and seasoned filmmakers. This year, the festival runs from November 13th to 23rd and the 2025 Forum takes place within that period, from November 16th to 19th, welcoming a total of 51 documentary projects. Lara Baladi (CRF 2025) will have an in-production multimedia installation called Anatomy of Revolution presented in the IDFA DocLab Forum along with 11 other new-media projects across an array of formats at various stages of development and production. Lara notes that “Civitella played a big part in bringing these works to completion.”
The Forum selection highlights the political power of documentary to tackle salient issues of today’s world. In the words of Adriek van Nieuwenhuijzen, head of IDFA Industry, the chosen projects “bring underexposed stories to light while also exploring non-narrative expressions, both of which provide context in a society marked by turbulence and uncertainty.”
IDFA DocLab Forum, the slate Lara’s work is in, was created in 2019 by IDFA Forum and New Media to introduce a new, complete cross-media market where the projects presented can find their way to new partnerships, receive in-depth feedback, and explore new ways to move forward. The DocLab Forum is open to XR and new media projects, live performances, and other interdisciplinary documentary artworks, all sorts of non-linear non-fiction artworks in all production and financing stages that use emerging media to represent reality. These include a wide range of formats such as immersive narratives, spatial creations, web-based experiences, digital art, games, audio narratives, physical installations, and artworks that leverage AI and other advanced technologies. Up to 15 projects are selected for this category. This year, over 850 applications were submitted. Congratulations, Lara!
