CHART is pleased to announce the inaugural exhibition of its new dynamic program and Tribeca location. CHART will establish a collaborative platform and a precedent for a cooperative dialogue between visual thinkers and creators. For its inaugural exhibition CHART invited Simone Joseph of SGJ Fine Art, to co-curate Reductive Seduction, on view May 2-June 29, 2019, with an opening reception on Thursday, May 2nd from 6-9 pm.

Reductive Seduction is a group exhibition exploring the ways in which sensuality can be expressed through a reductive formal language. Bringing together a selection of works from the mid 20th Century to the present, the group of works create a dialogue of sensual depiction
that was once more typically associated with Baroque gestures, that is replaced here by refined and incisive accumulation of elements and materials. These works utilize drastically refined and distilled form to evoke corporeal sensation and somatic charge.

Dadamaino, Deborah Kass (DG 2009), Maximilian Schubert and Vincent Szarek examine and alter the nature and structure of painting by employing non-traditional treatment of material such as fiberglass, neon and cast metal. These artists uniquely engage the surface with gestures such as physically cutting into the work, sanding layers and adding elements in order to deconstruct and then reconstruct their work into physically provocative objects.

The gallery is located at 74 Franklin Street, New York, NY 10013. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-6pm.
