Cyrus Cassells, Writing, USA (he/him)

Cyrus Cassells, the 2021 Poet Laureate of Texas, is the author of nine books of poetry and two books of translations. His honors include a 2019 Guggenheim fellowship, a Lambda Literary Award, a Lannan Literary Award, the National Poetry Series, the Poetry Society of America’s William Carlos Williams Award, the Texas Institute of Letters’ Souerette Diehl Fraser Award for Best Translated Book of 2018 and 2019, two NEA grants, and a Pushcart Prize. He is a 2023 University Distinguished Professor of English at Texas State University, where he also received a 2021 Presidential Excellence Award.

Valzhyna Mort, Writing, Belarus (she/her)

Valzhyna Mort is the author of three poetry collections, most recently: Music for the Dead and Resurrected (FSG 2020), named one of the best poetry books of 2020 by The New York Times, and the winner of the International Griffin Poetry Prize and the UNT Rilke Prize. Mort is a recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the American Academy in Rome, the Lannan Foundation, the NEA, and the Amy Clampitt Foundation. Valzhyna Mort is an Associate Professor at Cornell University. Born in Minsk, Belarus, she writes in English and Belarusian.
