Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe, Visual Arts, Yanomami/Venezuela (he/him)

A Yanomami indigenous artist born in 1971 in Sheroana in the Amazon jungle, Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe is a master in the elaboration of handmade paper. His work stands out in painting and drawing. He has participated in the Kathmandu Triennale, in the Venice Biennale, and Contemporary Indigenous Art in Mexico, Berlin, Shanghai, and Sydney. He has exhibited individually in private galleries at the Museum of Art and Prints in Caracas, Venezuela and at MASP in São Paulo. His work is in the collections of MOMA, Foundation Cartier, British Museum, SMACK Belgium, Pompidou Art Center, Denver Museum, and Reina Sofia Art Museum.

Aart Strootman, Music, Netherlands (he/him)

After studying guitar, musicology, and music theory, Aart Strootman connected these studies as a composer in a PhD research at the University Leiden. Gaudeamus described him as “a complete original: a performer, an improviser, an inventor and a unique composer.” As a guitarist he worked on numerous premieres and played solo with, amongst others, the WDR and the New York Philharmonic. He has received the Gaudeamus Award, Prix Annelie de Man, BUMA Classical Award, and the Matthijs Vermeulenprijs.
