Last week the Griffin Poetry Prize announced its 2021 International and Canadian Shortlists.
Judges Ilya Kaminsky (Ukraine), Aleš Šteger (Slovenia), and Souvankham Thammavongsa (Canada) each read 682 books of poetry, including 55 translations from 28 languages, submitted by 231 publishers from 14 countries. The two awardees will be announced on June 23. Each will each be awarded $65,000. The other finalists – 3 International, and 2 Canadian, will be awarded $10,000. The Canadian recipient of the 2021 Griffin Poetry Prize is offered an Affiliated Fellowship with Civitella.

The Dyzgraphxst by Canisia Lubr (McClelland & Stewart)
Pluviophile by Yusuf Saadi (Nightwood Editions)
The International shortlist includes Music for the Dead and Resurrected by Valzhyna Mort (Incoming Writing Fellow 2022).
