On Saturday, March 9th, 2024, Civitella Ranieri will open its doors for the lecture The point of infinity: Piero della Francesca’s Perugia altarpiece by Professor Frank Dabell (DG 2019).

Piero’s polyptych for the nuns of Sant’Antonio in Perugia (now in the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria) is often sidelined by pilgrims on the “Piero trail,” yet it contains one of his most engaging, luminous demonstrations of perspective. Frank Dabell will speak about the artist’s perfect balance of mathematics and spirituality, and ponder on the fifteenth century’s evolving search for how to simultaneously describe the tangible and the eternal.

The lecture will be held in the Castle starting at 5:30 PM.

Reservations are free but mandatory as there are limited seats available.
