Amos Elkana (CRF 2010) recently finished composing his most ambitious work to date which is an hour long piece for ensemble with electronics and video. The subject of the work is the life of Amos’ late father Yehuda Elkana. The work is a sextet composed for the contemporary music ensemble Meitar. The electronics parts include recordings of Amos’ father from various interviews and talks that he gave. The work will be performed in concert on Thursday, April 13, 8PM, at Studio Annette in Tel Aviv; on Friday, April 14, 11AM, at the Van Leer Jerusalem institute; and on Tuesday, April 18, 7PM, at the University of Iowa. In addition, on Monday, April 24th, 7:30PM, at the Kaufman Music Center, Merkin Hall, in New York City, the Meitar Ensemble, conducted by Pierre-André Valade, will play Amos’ piece Tripp alongside works by other composers.
