William Kentridge’s (CRF 1996) exhibition, A Natural History of the Studio, is on view at Hauser & Wirth New York through August 1, 2025. This marks the South African artist’s first exhibition with the gallery in New York and offers a comprehensive look into his creative process.

The exhibition spans two locations: 542 West 22nd Street and 443 West 18th Street. At the 22nd Street venue, visitors can experience Kentridge’s acclaimed nine-part film series, Self-Portrait as a Coffee-Pot, accompanied by over seventy works on paper integral to its creation. The installation, designed by longtime collaborator Sabine Theunissen, evokes the atmosphere of Kentridge’s Johannesburg studio, immersing viewers in his artistic environment.

At the 18th Street location, a concise survey of Kentridge’s printmaking practice is presented, featuring nearly thirty prints made over the last two decades. These works showcase his exploration of various techniques, including etching, lithography, and woodcut, reflecting his ongoing engagement with the medium.

The exhibition is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and is free to attend. For more information and to plan your visit, visit Hauser & Wirth’s website here.
