On Friday, June 11th, 2021, the 105th class of Pulitzer Prize winners in Journalism, Books, Drama and Music were announced.
Natalie Diaz (CRF 2015) was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for her collection Postcolonial Love Poem, published by Graywolf Press. “Postcolonial Love Poem unravels notions of American goodness and creates something more powerful than hope—a future is built, future being a matrix of the choices we make now, and in these poems, Diaz chooses love.”
Tania León (CRF 2003) was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Music for her work Stride. “Premiered at David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City on February 13, 2020, a musical journey full of surprise, with powerful brass and rhythmic motifs that incorporate Black music traditions from the US and the Caribbean into a Western orchestral fabric.”
