PEN America has announced the finalists for its 2022 Literary Awards. Awardees will be announced at the Literary Awards Ceremony on February 28, 2022 at 8pm at The Town Hall in New York City.
Kirsten Valdez Quade (CRF 2017) is a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel. Mai Der Vang (CRF 2017) is a finalist for the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry Collection. Jennifer Grotz (CRF 2021) and Piotr Sommer (CRF 2007) are finalists for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation. Congratulations Civitellians!
Safiya Sinclair (Incoming Writing Fellow 2023) is a judge for the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry Collection, and Dagmawi Woubshet (Incoming Writing Fellow 2022) is a judge for the PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Award for Nonfiction. Rigoberto González (CRF 2013) is a judge for the PEN Open Book Award. The recipient of the Open Book Award, which goes to an exceptional book-length work of any literary genre by an author of color, will become a Civitella Fellow.
