November 14th, 2025 — The 10th edition of The Bridge Book Award, the literary prize that, as a “bridge,” unites Italian and American cultures with the aim of strengthening mutual understanding through literature, has announced its 2025 awardees.
Italian Recipients
Fiction – Nicoletta Verna for I giorni di Vetro (Einaudi Stile Libero)
Nonfiction – Giulio Ferroni for Natura vicina e lontana. Umanesimo e ambiente dagli antichi greci all’intelligenza artificiale (La Nave di Teseo)
American Recipients
Fiction – Julia Phillips for Bear (Penguin Random House, Hogarth)
Nonfiction – Aaron Robertson for The Black Utopians: Searching for Paradise and the Promised Land in America (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)
The award winners were selected out of ten finalists from each country. Civitella congratulates them all on this momentous achievement! The ceremony will take place on December 4th at 5pm CET at the Center for American Studies in Rome, Via Michelangelo Caetani, 32 with the finalists and winning authors, directors of the prize, and representatives of the jury and supporting institutions in attendance. On December 5th, the four winners will be at the “Più libri più liberi” fair in Rome at 12:30pm CET in Giove Hall, Nuvola Convention Centre. On April 13th, 2026 the two Italian winners and two American winners will take part in an event at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York as part of the continued celebration of The Bridge Award’s 10th year.
