Join Civitella at 6 PM on Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 28 Hubert St. for our annual reading in celebration of Poetry Month. This year, four recent Writing Fellows, representing all four fellowship sessions in 2025, will share their work at Civitella’s Tribeca home base.

Maggie Burton is the 2025 Griffin Poetry Prize Affiliated Fellow from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Her poetry collection Chores won a silver medal at the Independent Publisher Book Awards and was shortlisted for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and the E. J. Pratt Family Poetry Award. Her fiction debut, A Temporary Grace, appears in 2026.

Elisa Gonzalez is a 2025 Writing Fellow from Puerto Rico and the USA. Gonzalez’ work appears in The New YorkerThe Paris Review, and elsewhere. Her debut poetry collection, Grand Tour, was named one of the best books of the year by The New Yorker. She has received a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, a Whiting Award, and a Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters.

Robin Walter, an Academy of American Poets Affiliated Fellow from the USA, is the author of Little Mercy (Graywolf Press, 2025), which was selected as the winner of the 2024 Academy of American Poets First Book Award. Her poetry and essays have been featured widely and she is an Assistant Professor at Colorado State University.

Andrea Ballou is the 2025 Lexi Rudnitsky/Persea Books First Book Prize Affiliated Fellow from the USA. She is the author of Other Times, Midnight, winner of the Lexi Rudnitsky Poetry Prize. A Pushcart Prize nominee, Andrea is the Director of the Poetry Lab for Elders at the VNA in Somerville, where she has taught poetry and creative writing since 2018.
