Civitella for me was an enlivening return to beginner’s mind, and a place where I could be newly courageous. Nourished in every sense, sheltered from external and outward-facing pressures, and inspired by the brilliant and generous fellows by my side, I returned to my work with a sense of curiosity, wonder, and playful experimentation. I was able to reawaken a project that had lay dormant for years as well as begin new ones. More importantly, I felt a new sense of integration between writing, music, and movement, which raises new and exciting questions about the future of my creative practice.
