I had an immensely rewarding and productive time at Civitella, focusing on music that I had wished to write for many years, incorporating my voice with field recordings and electronic sounds. My time here came directly after a very busy period of teaching and composing deadlines, so was greatly welcomed, in terms of creating a space to think and create, full of natural beauty and the kindness of people. It reawakened a love of poetry and I felt blessed to hear readings from the poets themselves, giving such personal insight into the work. I had an opportunity to perform at the chapel, and was inspired by its wonderful resonance and acoustic. I will carry the spirit of the place through the coming months and years and will cherish the friendships made. Grazie mille!
