Kaveh Akbar (CRF 2021) (Iran/USA) has been shortlisted for the 2025 Gregor von Rezzori Prize in the Foreign Fiction Section for his debut novel “Martyr!,” translated into Italian by Chiara Spaziani. The 19th edition of the awards will take place from June 10 to 13 in Florence with the Foreign Fiction Section winner announced tomorrow.
Towards the end of Akbar’s residency he said, “I leave Civitella astonished, galvanized, and better made.” This is our hope for every Civitella Fellow and surely reflected in Akbar’s success since leaving the Castle in 2021. We look forward to discovering all of the Gregor von Rezzori Prize winners over the next few days!
