Annie Lewandowski (CRF 2014), composer and multi-instrumentalist performer from Forest City, Iowa, works between the worlds of improvisation and independent rock music. Her band Powerdove has released nine recordings, most recently “War Shapes” and “Bitter Banquet.” A beautiful 2014 Powerdove recording was just re-released on limited edition cassette by Philadelphia’s Dear Life Records. Powerdove Solo at Ranieri Chapel was performed and recorded in the chapel at Civitella while Annie was a Fellow. All proceeds will go to Ithaca’s Southside Community Center; see more here. In addition, this Sunday March 14th, 2021 at 3PM ET, Annie will be speaking with Serpentine Galleries Curator of General Ecology Lucia Pietroiusti, interactive artist and youth tech educator Ashley Jane Lewis, and her collaborator code artist Kyle McDonald at the virtual Media Art Xploration (MAX) Forum “The Interspecies Quest.” In their multimedia project “Siren – Listening to Another Species on Earth,” Annie and Kyle explore the meeting of multiple intelligences – humpback whale, human and artificial – and the transformative experience of listening in contemporary marine environments. Registration for the event can be found here.
