On Tuesday, July 12 Civitella Ranieri will open its doors for Rachel Eliza Griffiths and Salman Rushdie’s Presentations.
We will welcome you with a light refreshment at 5:50 pm. Presentations begin at 6:15 pm.
Rachel Eliza Griffiths, Writing, USA, Director’s Guest
A multi-media artist and writer, Rachel Eliza is the author of Miracle Arrhythmia and The Requited Distance. Her third collection of poetry, Mule & Pear, was selected for the 2012 Inaugural Poetry Award by the Black Caucus of the American Library Association. Her fourth collection, Lighting the Shadow was a finalist for the 2015 Balcones Poetry Prize and the 2016 Phillis Wheatley Book Award in Poetry. Griffiths’ recent volume of poetry and photography, Seeing the Body, was awarded the 2021 Paterson Poetry Prize. Her debut novel, Promise, is forthcoming from Random House.
Salman Rushdie, Writing, USA, Director’s Guest
Salman Rushdie is the author of thirteen novels: Grimus, Midnight’s Children (which was awarded the Booker Prize in 1981), Shame, The Satanic Verses, Haroun and the Sea of Stories, The Moor’s Last Sigh, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Fury, Shalimar the Clown, The Enchantress of Florence, Luka and the Fire of Life, Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights, The Golden House, and Quichotte. His new novel Victory City will be published in February 2023. His books have been translated into over forty languages.
